About Us

Resources Needed for Independence is a mission-driven nonprofit creating practical pathways to greater independence, inclusion, and community connection for adults with disabilities, caregivers, and families.

Our flagship campus, Pebblebrook Farm Living and Learning Center (PFLL), brings that mission to life through three core areas:

Residential Living Opportunities — supportive housing models that promote independence
Work and Job Skills Development — hands-on learning, vocational experiences, and confidence-building
Community and Caregiver Education — workshops, events, and resources that strengthen families

Our Independence by Design program delivers volunteer-supported services across Vance and Granville counties. We are hiring a Community Programs and Facilities Lead to help launch and grow this vision. No two days will be the same.

Community Programs & Events

  • Recruit, schedule, and support volunteers for Independence by Design programming
  • Help organize caregiver workshops, community events, and educational activities
  • Support participant check-ins and day-to-day program coordination
  • Maintain attendance logs, records, and basic reports
  • Assist with local outreach and community partnerships

Facilities & Property Operations

  • Keep facilities clean, safe, organized, and event-ready
  • Maintain grounds through mowing, trimming, and general upkeep
  • Coordinate repairs, vendors, deliveries, and maintenance projects
  • Perform or assist with basic repairs, furniture assembly, shelving, and setup

Daily Operations

  • Manage schedules, task lists, supply needs, and follow-up items
  • Purchase or source materials, tools, and supplies as needed
  • Help improve systems and solve practical problems as they arise

Who You Are

  • Dependable and self-motivated with strong follow-through
  • Comfortable with both computer work and hands-on physical tasks
  • Friendly, professional, and community-minded
  • Able to work independently without constant supervision
  • Comfortable and respectful working alongside adults with disabilities
  • Motivated by meaningful work that produces visible results

Required Qualifications

  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
  • Ability to commute regularly to Granville County and Wake Forest area
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds
  • Basic computer skills: email, spreadsheets, scheduling tools
  • Strong communication and organizational skills

Helpful Experience (not required)

  • Property maintenance or trades skills
  • Volunteer coordination
  • Human services or disability services
  • Community outreach or small business operations

Compensation & Schedule

  • $19–$22/hour depending on experience
  • 30–40 hours/week (full-time preferred, part-time considered)
  • Flexible scheduling with some evenings and weekends for events
  • Growth opportunities as PFLL expands
🏠 On-Site Housing Opportunity: The property is being developed as a small-scale caregiver respite retreat, and long-term on-site housing may be available for the right candidate as that vision grows.

RNI volunteers are the backbone of our Independence by Design program. Whether you can give two hours a month or two days a week, we have a pathway that fits your life.

We serve adults with Autism and I/DD, older adults, and their caregivers across Vance, Granville, Franklin, Wake and Johnson counties. Volunteers receive orientation and ongoing support — no prior experience required.
