Resources Needed for Independence is a North Carolina–based nonprofit organization dedicated to expanding access to independence-focused resources for adults with disabilities and aging adults. We work at the intersection of education, advocacy, and community collaboration to support individuals and families navigating complex support systems.

Monica A. Wallace

Executive Director

Monica A. Wallace is the Executive Director of Resources Needed for Independence, bringing more than 20 years of experience across healthcare systems, behavioral health, and community-based support models.

Her work has focused on closing gaps in care for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities and aging adults by aligning policy, technology, and real-world family needs. Monica has supported organizations in designing practical, person-centered approaches that promote independence while maintaining safety and dignity.

As Executive Director, she leads the organization’s mission, partnerships, and program strategy to ensure Resources Needed for Independence remains grounded in lived experience, community collaboration, and sustainable impact.
